Why am I here?
It’s a mission statement. It’s always a mission statement.
The PA Almanac Mission Statement
Welcome! If you intentionally navigated to the ‘About’ page of a public accounting blog, we have to assume you’re terminally curious or deranged. Our target audience is both of these things. You’re in the right place.
We’re Pat Jackson and Tyler Gear. Between us, we’ve worked in public accounting firms for over 12 years, with experience at the associate through manager levels. We’ve been employed by Big-4 firms, mid-tier firms, and regional firms. We were subjected to the same public accounting infrastructure as the company’s CPAs, analysts, administrators, and leadership.
If you’ve spent any time in public accounting, you’re acutely familiar with the idiosyncrasies and foibles of the industry. The early years are often unpleasant and hard to navigate, but they can also be quite lucrative.
Through this forum, our band of merry PA alumni provide guidance. We aim to make sense of starting a career in public accounting, whether you’re coming straight from undergrad or joining with work experience. We decipher the arcane mysteries of the partnership model. We teach you how to improve your compensation package, prepare for promotions, and manipulate your KPIs for fun and profit.* We intend to have a good time providing this guidance, and we encourage feedback and commentary from our audience.
Now that’s a mission statement. Please contact us to assist with your next corporate restructuring.
*We do not encourage you to actually manipulate your KPIs for profit. Doing it for fun is acceptable, but only for fun. If you profit in any way, it becomes a “Big Deal.”
